Personailty:
Kolibri(Koli) is a brave dog, never backing down from a challenge. He will follow the apparent "Alpha" of a group, but only up to the point that he feels he is better suited for the role. At this point, he will become rebellious, doing all he can to show the others in the pack that he is more than capable of being a better leader. Unless his rival immediately beats him down to size, they'll find no end of trouble from Koli.
He is very kind-hearted though, deep inside, and wishes the best for those he is close to. Koli has been known to be extremely protective, especially of those he loves. He is also intelligent, and can hold his own in a battle of wits almost as well as he can in a contest of strength. His typical approach to any new situation is to make his physical strength, and mental steel, clearly apparent. He has trouble being patient and doesn't enjoy having to deal with nonsense. When unhappy, Kolibri can often be heard muttering to himself. He is extremely stubborn, and it takes a calm, intelligent argument to make him back down - or someone more hard headed then he is, which is hard to come by.
Despite his troubled past, Kolibri is very optimistic, and loves to talk about the Alpha-Omega his mother died for trying to teach him about. He keeps an open mind, and is known to listen well to others. He loves his family, and would die in a moment to protect them.
Likes:

History:
Kolibri's unique mix of bloodlines has given him extraordinary talents. His father was an intimidating Bull Terrier named Feroce("Fierce"), and his mother a beautiful she-wolf named Tõsi("True") that had been given the extraordinary gift of magic. Tõsi could do many things, including fly, change small areas of land to look as if they were in a different season, know when anybeast was lying simply by looking into their eyes, and run faster than all other wolves. Some of her rare abilities were passed on to Kolibri, and he was born with the coat of an Anna's Hummingbird. Kolibri has an unnatural ability to read emotions, and can fly. A strange trait he also developed was the ability to poison things, having fangs with a venom that he soon learned to control. His bite itself could inflict severe wounds, but mixed with his potent proteolytic venom(molecular structure touched by this type of venom is effectively "vaporized"), Kolibri is a force to be reckoned with. He supposedly had a sister, but only a few days after learning to eat solid food, Koli's family was attacked. The pack that his mother had belonged to many seasons past had said that because mother taught him about the Alpha-Omega, who created all living things, she was to die. His parents each carried one of their precious pups, but his mother was killed trying to protect him. Koli's father escaped, taking the other child with him, and were separated from Kolibri in that time. The pup miraculously survived, hiding in an abandoned badgers den while Tõsi fought a hopeless battle.

Kolibri managed to keep himself alive by his magic and scavenging from whatever he could find - not always the most appetizing way to survive, as he searched in vain for the rest of his family. At almost two years of age(approx. 14 in dog years), his life took a turn for the better. Koli found a small, seemingly abandoned fox kit following him through a mountain forest one morning. He couldn't convince the kit to leave him, and didn't have the heart to chase her away. He felt a stab of pity for the youngster, remembering his own pup-hood, and was worried about the fact that her ribs were clearly visible beneath her mangy blue and green coat. Kolibri befriended the kit, named Tike, and soon they were inseparable, forming a close brother/sister bond. Tike was quite talkative, and though she was very young, Kolibri was impressed with how much she knew about the natural world. He taught her all about the Alpha-Omega, and over time his underlying loneliness died away. He had someone to take care of, and was determined to lead her as the Alpha-Omega would have him to.

Because of the cruelty he'd experienced, Kolibri kept himself and Tike well away from the packs that he encountered later... Until he was enticed to join one of them by meeting Jekita, who had been staying with this particular pack for some time. Her markings and abilities captivated him, and Kolibri began to approach the pack more frequently, even allowing himself to be seen. Kolibri made sure to keep Tike hidden during what he saw as risky and dangerous, and the little fox was extremely agitated by his hypocritical behavior.
Eventually Kolibri worked up the courage to approach Jekita, who seemed to be alone in forest at the time. Tike was, unknown to him, hiding close by....

"Er- hello.", said Koli nervously, appearing in the bushes. Jekita jumped, her ears swiveled forward like dancing butterflies. Koli smiled, "I'm Kolibri..." Jekita relaxed when she realized who he was, "Oh! It's you! I've seen you around, Kolibri." He felt his ears growing hot, and he folded them halfway back, managing a dreamy, embarrassed smile, "Call me Koli... er - what's your name?" Just being this close to her made him tongue tied. She chuckled, "I'm Jekita. What are you doing on pack lands? Where is your family?" A small amphithere peeked up at Kolibri from behind Jekita's paws. Kolibri was surprised, he hadn't seen any animals other than dogs in Jekita's pack.
From the thick grass nearby, Tike flattened her ears excitedly, the snake looked like it would be fun to chase.
"I'm.. er... well...", Kolibri fumbled for words. Jekita's eye's were a beautiful golden color, and they looked deeply caring, like something he had seen in his Tõsi, so long ago. He was taken by her. She smiled, "A bit shy, aren't you?" He gave a loud, half-laugh, and Jekita tilted one ear back. Kolibri snarled at himself inwardly for being so scatter-brained. He wasn't normally like this! He wanted Jekita to know that! "I'm er- sorry... I... I..." He was having to take in deep breaths as his heart pounded. Jekita shook her silky fur and sat down, "Well, you're obviously not a threat." She ruffled her glossy wings. The small snake at her feet slithered forward, "I like him." Koli was taken aback, "Uh... thanks." She flicked out her tongue. Jekita watched Kolibri with interest, "You're not like the other loners I've met. You seem much more... like you've got someone that you care about."
Tike's tail swished back and forth, the snake was so close, she could catch it. With a howl she burst out of the bush, heart pounding. The snake cried in alarm, and slithered as quickly as possible towards Jekita. Tike was faster though, and she pounced on the small amphithere with a yowl of glee. "TIKE!", yelped Koli. Jekita jumped to her feet and the snake fluttered into the sky, out of reach of the kit's pointy teeth. Suddenly, another wolf burst out of the tall grass, fangs bared. Koli, thinking fast, snatched Tike up in his jaws and and leapt out of the path, thrusting her out of harms way and positioning himself between her and the newcomer. She let out a yelp as she slid across the dirt, but quickly ducked behind Koli's legs. Jekita stood behind the snarling wolf, looking shocked and distraught. Koli snarled, but his fear shone plainly in his eyes. "Get out of my lands.", growled the wolf, "Loners are not welcome here." Koli realized he must be speaking to the Alpha. Working up his courage, Koli spoke, trying to sound calm and controlled, "I mean you and your pack no harm."
The Alpha spat, "I'm sure, having your cub's trained to fight by attacking our younglings?"
"Tike was just playing!", pleaded Koli angrily, his fur bristling.
"Alpha...", said Jekita quietly from behind, "This dog means no harm..."
He rounded on her furiously, "Stay out of this Jekita! You may have been able to trust rogues when you were one, but they are a threat to the pack!" Her eyes narrowed. Kolibri was surprised, he had thought Jekita must be pack bred, seeing how refined her manners were. "Leave.", demanded the bulky male Alpha, staring straight at Kolibri. Koli realized there would be no reasoning. He began to turn away. "Come on Tike.", he said quietly. She backed up, staring at the huge Alpha with wide eyes. Kolibri's heart stung as they walked away. He should have known better than to trust a pack.

That night...
Kolibri and Tike had reached the edge of Jekita's pack lands. He had used his magic to create a small fire, made of twigs that he and Tike had put together in a pile. She was curled up next to him, her right forepaw the only limb not tucked under her, "I thought that she was really nice." Kolibri smiled weakly down at her, "You shouldn't have followed me. We both got in a lot of trouble." Tike flattened her ears and nuzzled his soft side, "I'm really sorry... that wolf was scary." Koli touched his nose to her forehead, "I know... we'll never go back there." Tike laid down, pulling her paw underneath her like the other three, "Thanks Koli." Tike let out a wide yawn, "It's too bad Jekita stayed there too... I liked her a lot." Koli laughed, "Me too, Tike..." He looked up at the clear night sky and whispered again, "Me too."
The fire died to a dimly glowing ember, casting faint light on only the closest objects to it. Tike was curled next to Kolibri, dreaming peacefully. Koli was in a much lighter sleep, alert enough to wake up at the sign of danger. A gentle flapping noise caught the attention of his attentive ears. Koli opened his eyes and turned his face towards the sound, head low to the ground. Swoosh.... swoosh... swoosh-swoosh-swoosh. A dark figure landed lightly on the ground beside the coals, and it seemed to Koli that at the stranger's arrival the dying embers flared up a little bit. It began to walk forward slowly, silently. He let out a low growl, warning them to keep their distance. The figure stopped. "Who are you?", Koli snarled with deadly lowness of voice. "Kolibri?", came an excited reply. He pricked his ears forward, he knew that voice! "Jekita?" The fire sprang up, flickering both gently and excitedly across the charred wood. It was her. Kolibri stood up, his tail wagging. Tike fell against the ground and woke up with a start. Jekita gave a relieved sigh, "I finally found you! I've been searching all night!"
Koli's common-sense returned, and he held his tail still, "Why?" He didn't want to think Jekita could be a threat, but the Alpha of her pack's behavior forced him to be guarded. She seemed to understand, "I was worried about you... after what happened. I promise I'm not here on Fareck's business. He's always acting on ridiculous impulses. Tike was practically beaming, she peeked up shyly, "Where's the snake?" Jekita looked down, "Purity? I left her at the pack cave... she doesn't always stay with me, but when she does visit, the pack knows we don't get separated. It's safer this way." Tike looked sad, "Oh..." Kolibri nodded, "We're fine..." His voice was hard. Jekita eyed him sadly, "You don't trust me." It wasn't a question. Koli shook his head unhappily, "I... I just want to keep Tike safe..." Jekita nodded, "I understand. I feel the same way about Purity." He voice sounded like the song of Angels, to Kolibri at least.
Jekita shook her head, "Anyways... I can see you're safe now, you won't have to worry about Fareck once you've left his lands. I'll go now... I don't want you to feel uncomfortable." She turned and walked towards the nearby clearing. Kolibri was frozen for a moment, but sudden fear coursed through him, the thought of never seeing Jekita again was too unbearable. He lunged after her, "Jekita! Wait!" She stopped and turned, right before leaping into the air, "Yes?" He skidded to a stop, very close to her face, "I... It's not that I don't trust you! I just... I don't want to never see you again!", he blurted out, lowering his head. Breathing in her sweet scent made him dizzy. Her eyes lit up, "What?"
Kolibri fumbled for words, "I don't want to leave and never see you again."
Jekita gazed at him, "Koli... you'll never be accepted into the pack... you saw how Fareck was!"
He looked back up in horror, "But... there has to be some way!", he tried to come up with anything, "Meet me!"
"What?"
"Meet me... please... at the stream just outside the pack lands... tomorrow night.", he pleaded.
Jekita stared at him for a moment, then nodded slowly, "Alright... I will."
Kolibri's eyes lit up. She paused, then leaned forward and licked him quickly on the side of his muzzle. Before Kolibri could respond beyond widening his eyes, Jekita had darted into the air and was fading away. He let out an astonished laugh, she wanted to see him! He couldn't believe it! Tike padded up behind him and watched as Jekita soared away, "She left?" Her eyes were full of light, and almost glowed in the moonlight. Kolibri stared skyward, "She'll be back."

Sunset...
Kolibri paced back and forth, every two trips between the large rocks he looked up at the sunset to try and glimpse Jekita. He and Tike had reached the stream just after sunhigh, and had been resting by the bubbling waters all day. Tike bounded back and forth across the stream, laughing and giggling as the spray tickled her belly. She chased frogs and minnows downstream, but always managed to shake her fur out while standing near Kolibri. Right now, she was enjoying digging a hole next to the stream deep enough to collect water in, and blowing bubbles inside it by sticking her muzzle under the surface.
She giggled, but Kolibri barely noticed. He muttered under his breath, and his stomach was tight with nerves. What would he say? Was she really coming? It was getting dark! She should have arrived by now. Did he really think that this would work? How could Jekita really care about him? Maybe he should leave... no, Jekita was honest. He could trust her. He hoped.
The sky turned a bright red as the sun bounced against the clouds. It was utter perfection. By now, Tike was lying on the grass across the back of the shallow stream, watching for frogs. Most of them were already gone, deciding that it was much safer in another spot of the stream. Kolibri caught the sound of gentle flapping. It was much thicker sounding than that of a small bird, and he gazed upward hopefully. Jekita glided down and landed gracefully, tucking her wings in against her fur. Kolibri bounded up in relief and joy, "I thought you weren't coming!" Jekita smiled, "I had trouble with getting out... I think Fareck suspects me." She snorted in disgust, "But still... I managed to get out alright." Kolibri gave her a worried look, "I'm sorry... the last thing I want to do is put you in danger." Jekita smiled wider, "It's alright, Koli, I know how to take care of myself."

Other:
As this character's adoption guidelines permit, Kolibri's wings remain nothing more than a mark on his fur when not in use. While flying however, they grow to full size, and are large and pointed enough to give him an excellent flying ability.
